New Reinhardt Student-Athletes
Hello Reinhardt University Student-Athletes and Parents/Guardians,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all freshman and transfer student-athletes and their parents/guardians to the Reinhardt family. In the attachments to the email that you have received from your coach, are the following: a welcome letter, our insurance policies, as well as physical information and physical paperwork (that you will need to print and bring with you to your physical)
We do require all student-athletes to maintain a major medical primary insurance policy, either through themselves or as a part of your family insurance. As an added benefit to your child, we do utilize a supplemental athletic accident insurance policy. What this means is that if any time your child is injured and needs to be seen by a physician or have anything further that we cannot provide on campus, we will submit all costs through your primary insurance first, and then submit all remaining costs to our supplemental policy. All claims are subject to review. Please see the attachment on our guidelines for insurances we accept. If at this time, the student-athlete does not have insurance, we will be sending out more information later in the summer.
All student-athletes are required to have physical examinations prior to their participation in intercollegiate athletics at Reinhardt University through our department. Please see the attachment on how you/your student-athlete receives the physical and what is involved.

Reinhardt University Sports Medicine Insurance Guidelines 2023-24
April 2023
Dear Reinhardt Athletes, Parents and Guardians:
As we approach the 2023-24 academic year, we wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the Reinhardt University student-athlete insurance policy. In order to participate in intercollegiate athletics, it is mandatory that all student-athletes carry and show proof of primary major medical health insurance before they are allowed to start any team conditioning/ drills/ individuals/ practices/ games. The policy they pay for as a part of their tuition/fees is a SUPPLEMENTAL policy that will only take effect after the primary insurance. Please do not get this confused with a primary policy. Reinhardt University Athletics has the following guidelines on the type of primary major medical insurance that will be accepted:
· No student-athlete will be allowed to have Medishare/Christian Share as a primary policy, it is not considered insurance
· Primary policies must have general health benefits (i.e. no emergency services policy only) that allow them to receive medical care in the state of Georgia
· Primary policies preferably be PPO or POS
· Deductible choices recognized by Reinhardt will be $5000, $2500, $1000 and $500.
· IF primary insurance is an HMO athlete MUST change their primary care physician to a Canton, GA area MD
· No student-athlete will be allowed to have out of state Medicaid policy
· IF primary insurance is Medicaid the athlete MUST change their primary care physician to a Canton, GA area MD.
· We ask that you send us a copy of the front/back of the Insurance card
With all policies, if you chose to pay month-to-month or for only six months at a time, injuries are susceptible to be considered pre-existing, and Reinhardt supplemental insurance cannot consume that cost.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you,
