Jonathan Burton is in his sixth season as head coach of Reinhardt Baseball.

The lead Eagle – who was named the fourth head coach in team history on May 28, 2018, after spending seven seasons with the Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) and three seasons with the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene- has a career mark of 502-323 (.608 winning percentage) while sporting an 155-94 record (.622) in five years with Reinhardt.

The 2023 baseball season continued to show improvement in all areas as the Eagles finished second in the AAC for the third straight season while also making their third straight NAIA opening round, and fourth in five years. Burton was also able to capture his 500th win as a Head Coach vs #12 University of Mobile during the NAIA Opening Round.

Under Burton’s guidance, the Eagles boasted one of their most memorable offensive seasons in school history breaking team records in in Hits (564), Doubles (107), Home Runs (91), Slugging Percentage (.539), and Stolen Bases (112). Individual and career records were also shattered by Nash Crowell –(Single season home runs) , Jacob Profit- (Career stolen bases), Ethan Foley- (Career Wins, Strikeouts, Innings pitched)

For its effort on the diamond, Reinhardt saw a trio of players named All-AAC (Jarrett Burney, Andrew Herbert, Tucker Zdunich – AAC First Team) and Dylan Lewis, Ethan Foley, Zach Rabe, Nash Crowell (AAC Second Team). Herbert was also chosen as NAIA All American Honorable Mention and the AAC Pitcher of the Year.

In 15 seasons as a head coach Burton has coached (38) first team All-Conference players, (30) second team All-Conference Players, (9) NAIA All Americans, (13) MLB Draft/Independent affiliated players, (43) NAIA Scholar Athletes, (131) All- Conference Scholar Athletes. He has managed (3) Conference Title championships, (7) NAIA Opening Rounds, (2) NAIA Opening Round Championships, (2) NAIA World Series appearances

With the Blue Raiders (248-161), Burton guided the team to back-to-back NAIA World Series appearances in Lewiston, Idaho (2015-16). Lindsey Wilson had some memorable campaigns under Burton, as he led the Blue Raiders to the program's second-straight appearance at the World Series in 2016, where Lindsey Wilson went 2-2 – the first pair of World Series wins in program history. The Blue Raiders finished the season ranked No. 6 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll – the highest national ranking in team history – and the 44-25 record in 2016 was the fourth 40-win season in the last five years. During the aforementioned run for No. 1, Lindsey Wilson captured a share of the MSC regular-season title, and also saw the program's first-ever All-World Series Team selections in Edgar Lebron and Aaron Ashton. For his efforts, Burton was named the ABCA/Diamond NAIA Regional Coach of the Year for the second time in 2016, also garnering the honor in 2015, where he led the Blue Raiders to the program's first-ever appearance in the World Series and earned the highest ranking in team history at No. 10. He also has been selected once by his peers as the conference coach of the year in two different conferences (Mid-South and TranSouth).

Prior to taking over the Blue Raider program, Burton spent three seasons at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) where he compiled a 99-68 overall record. Before becoming the head coach, he spent four seasons as the Trojans' assistant coach.

In addition to conference and national honors, four of Burton's players have been drafted – Bautista by the Cubs in 2015, P.J. Francescon by the Cubs and Craig Stem by the Dodgers in 2011 and Tim Dunn by the Reds in 2009. As a student-athlete, Burton amassed a 16-10 record with a 3.78 earned run average while playing at Volunteer State Community College and later at Trevecca. He was awarded the Coaches' Award in 2002 and 2004 and was a member of the team that broke the school record with 44 wins in 2004. Burton graduated from Trevecca Nazarene in 2004 and later completed his Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Tennessee State in 2007. Coach Burton and his wife, Amanda have two children. One son, Turner, and one daughter Kenzie.
