Records Fall at Sand Shark
October 24, 2016
Shelby Rensel posted the seventh-fastest time in school history as Reinhardt's women's cross country team set a new school record for team average time at the Sand Shark Invitational, hosted by USC Beaufort in Hardeeville, S.C., last Saturday.
Highlights:
Team Average: 20:31, a new school record
Shelby Rensel: Time of 19:20.26; sixth-fastest time in school history
Melanie Gerdes: Ninth-fastest time for a sophomore in school history and personal-best (20:34.78)
Jenna Chance: Personal-best time (20:48.55)
Pam Lalo: Personal-best time (20:54.89)
Jazzmine Gonzalez: Posted Reinhardt's fifth-best time (20:59.28)
Ansley Avera: Personal-best time (21:17.85)
Kaylee Rinesmith: Time of 23:08.15
"These ladies have continued to re-write the record books all season and [Saturday] was no different," said RU head coach Jordan Turner. "I can't say enough about these ladies and their continued drive to improve each and every week. It's starts with superb senior leadership from Jazzmine and Kaylee who have been here through the really tough times as a women's team. Three freshman in the top four scoring spots shows a very bright future for this program moving forward but we have many more goals to accomplish at the conference meet."
The Lady Eagles will next be in action at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship Nov. 5.
