AAC Women's Volleyball Awards Announced
Kira Rymer Attaway of Columbia International is the Player of the Year, while Kolbie Greene of Milligan is the Setter of the Year, and Kelcey Mangum of Columbia International is the Libero of the Year. Gracen Norris of Columbia International is the Freshman of the Year, Doneva Bays of Milligan is the Coach of the Year, and Tessa Colden Corrales is the Assistant Coach of the Year.
The awards were voted on and selected by the women's volleyball coaches of the AAC.
In 20 conference matches, Rymer averaged 3.43 kills per set and boasted a .403 hitting percentage. She amassed 209 kills, 31 blocks, and 41 digs during league play.
Greene registered a 9.88 assists-per-set average over 21 conference matches. She tallied 682 assists to go along with 245 digs and 15 service aces in conference play.
Mangum recorded 306 digs in conference action for an average of 4.86 in 20 AAC contests. She also had 63 assists and 26 service aces during the conference season.
Norris averaged 2.61 kills per set during 20 league contests. She posted 154 kills, a .330 hitting percentage, 17 digs, and 21 blocks.
Bays guided Milligan to a 19-2 league record to earn the Buffaloes the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
Colden Corrales has served admirably this season for Reinhardt, helping it to a fourth-place showing in the regular season with a 14-6 conference mark.
Sixteen players earned a spot on the All-AAC First Team with 12 making the second team. In addition, six players make up the All-Freshmen Team. Dozens of players made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, while 13 were named to the Champions of Character Team.
For the Eagles, setter Ashlynn Barnes was the sole member from the Eagles to make All-AAC First Team. Libero Sarah Sweet was named All-AAC Second Team along with teammate and kills leader Katherine Perrin. Freshman star Juliette Baffico was selected to the All-AAC Freshman Team. Newcomer Colena Myers was selected to AAC Champions of Character Team for the Eagles.
