Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt Women's volleyball team made quick work of Tigers of Brenau in a 3-0 sweep with the scores being 25-12, 25-5, 25-22.
The Eagles got off to a quick 7-0 start in the first set with 4 kills and 3 aces from RU setter, Ashlynn Barnes. The run continued as Brenau struggled to close the point differential until Reinhardt score the match point off of a Brenau error. The momentum carried into the second set as Reinhardt only had one error to win the match with a whopping score of 25-5. Finally, the third set was close up until the midway point where Reinhardt took control to end the match to earn the 3-0 sweep over Brenau.
The Eagles offense was great, totaling 41 kills and hit a .269. The offense was led by Juliette Baffico, who had 9 kills on the night (.444) and had 12 digs. Barnes also had a great night with 35 assists, 8 digs, and 4 service aces. The defense was led by libero, Sarah Sweet, who had 20 total digs on the night, while Maria Piliposyans stood at the net with 2 blocks.
As the season is coming to an end, the Eagles have two important matchups coming up this weekend. The first match is a home game this Friday, October 27th, versus Milligan at 6:30pm. Milligan is currently one spot ahead of Reinhardt in the AAC standings so it would be a great win to pull off. The next match is the following day, October 28th, versus Pikeville at 11am. The game is also serving as Senior Day to honor the 2023 Reinhardt volleyball seniors as they play in their last home-match as an Eagle.
