KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After re-writing the record books as a program in 2018 with a 35-8 mark and a victory in pool play for the first time ever in the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, presented by Delta Hotels, Reinhardt has earned its second Honorable Mention All-American in history as Tessa Colden was selected by the NAIA on Tuesday.
Colden joins Denise De Vine (2013) as the only Eagle volleyball players to take home such recognition.
"For only the second time in Reinhardt volleyball history a player has been selected as an Honorable Mention All-American," head coach Brian Goodhind said. "Tessa is a player I have coached since she was 12-years-old when I met her through club volleyball in Florida. She was that kid just thirsting and eager to learn and absorb as much knowledge as possible. When she first came up, Tessa had this tenacity about her that truly drove her to compete and a desire to simply want to be the best."
The junior outside hitter from Deland, Fla., was a key cog in Reinhardt's run to back-to-back Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season championships – the 2018 AAC Championship title – and within one match of becoming the first team in the history of the AAC to earn a spot in the round of 16 at the National Championship.
For the season, Colden played in all 43 outings and compiled at team-best 394 kills with a hitting percentage of .258.
She also collected 54 aces from the serving line and 21 total blocks.

Reinhardt has a taste for what the promised land looks like and feels like at the highest level of NAIA volleyball, and now Colden and the rest of the team have to do what it takes to get back Iowa and get even further in 2019.
