Cutlip Leads Lady Eagles at AAC Championship
Scoring in a pair of events, Reinhardt's Dani Cutlip helped the Lady Eagles to a sixth place standing after day one of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships in Johnson City, Tenn.
Cutlip finished third in the long jump competition with a distance of 4.84m. Cutlip also crossed the line in a time of 17.90 in the 100m hurdles for a third place finish. The finishes scored two points each for RU, giving the Lady Eagles four points on the day.
The Lady Eagles have had other marks that were just outside of the team scoring range. RU was represented by three athletes in the shot put, with Destiny Golston's 9.17m mark good for ninth place. Cameron Hawkins competed in the long jump as well, posting a mark of 4.43m, just missing out on seventh place. Jazzmine Gonzalez and Ansley Avera both ran in the 400m dash, with the pair finishing in seventh and eighth. Haley Mewborn raced in the 1500m run, The Lady Eagles had a 4x800m relay team of Hawkins, Anna Mills, Shelby Bennett, and Kaylee Rinesmith that placed fourth.
The meet will continue Thursday at the Sidney Smallwood Track.
