RU Tennis Sweeps Milligan and Johnson on a Doubleheader Thursday
Canton, GA - Reinhardt Tennis had a rare doubleheader day when the Wednesday matches were rained out against Milligan. The teams got in both matches versus Milligan and Johnson on Thursday with both the men's and women's teams both picking up sweeps.
The Women's team won 4-3 against Milligan and 7-0 against Johnson. On the Men's side, the Men's team won 6-1 over Milligan and 7-0 over Johnson. All matches were held at the Eagles' home courts at Bridgemill Athletic Center.
RU Women vs Milligan Results:
In doubles, the team of Camila Neyra and Hanna Blinouskaya won 6-1 against their Buffaloes opponent, however, the Eagles failed to pick up the doubles point by losing the other two doubles matches.
Reinhardt was able to make up the difference in the singles matches by winning 4 out of 6. Neyra won again in the #2 position 6-2, 6-2, and Nina Thomet won 6-4, 6-2 in the third slot. In the fourth position, Paula Blaschke won 6-1, 6-2, and in the sixth spot, Mia Hoeddinghaus won in three sets, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.
RU Men vs Milligan Results:
The Men's team won two out of three doubles matches to take the one-point advantage. The team of Luciano Fisicaro and Pol Masafret won in the first position with a score of 6-2. In the third slot, the team of Juan Vallejo and Michael Wassaf won 6-2, helping the Eagles gain the point.
In singles, the Men dominated by winning 5 out of the 6 total. Again, Fisicaro won 6-4, 6-1 as the number one player. He was followed by Agustin Siufi in the two-hole who won 7-5, 6-2. The Eagles won the fourth, fifth, and sixth after that with Masafret winning 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. Said Santin won at number five with the score of 6-1, 6-1 and Juan Vallejo won in the sixth 6-4, 6-3 to help the Eagles get the 6-1 victory!
RU Women vs Johnson Results:
The Women's team was able to win all three doubles and all six singles matches versus the Royals. In doubles, the number one team of Camila Neyra and Paula Blaschke won 6-1 and the number two team of Mia Hoeddinghaus and Elyse Standing won 6-2. In the third position, Tayla Kruger and Nina Thomet won 6-0 to finalize the doubles match in favor of the Eagles.
In Singles, Ana Josic won 6-0, 6-4 in the number one position. She was followed by Neyra in the second slot with a score of 6-0, 6-0, and Blaschke in the third position with a 6-0, 6-0 win. The fourth, fifth, and sixth positions were won by Kruger, Tiffany LeRoux, and Lyla Malecki respectively. Kruger won 6-0, 6-0, LeRoux won 6-0, 6-1, and Malecki won 6-4, 6-3.
RU Men vs Johnson Results:
On the Men's side, the Eagles swept all doubles and singles matches vs Johnson. The number one team of Luchi Fisicaro and Pol Masafret won 6-1, Nik Hensberg and Federico Zeiter won 6-1 in the second position, and in the third spot, Michael Wassaf and Juan Vallejo won with the score of 6-1 as well. The Eagles picked up the doubles point for their efforts.
In Singles, Ilyas Kouchairi won in the number one spot 6-4, 6-1. Hensberg won 6-2, 6-3 at number two and Zeiter won 6-1, 6-1 in the number three spot. Wassef, Zac Raughton, and Pierson Moss all won in the fourth, fifth, and sixth slots. Wassef won 6-1, 6-3, Raughton won 7-6, 7-5, and Moss won 6-2, 6-2.
The women will be in action next Thursday versus Brenau in Gainesville, GA, and both teams will be back on the court together on March 19th in Columbia, SC.
