CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The season continued on Thursday for women's tennis after the Eagles took care of SCAD-Atlanta (Ga.), 4-0, in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship Quarterfinals at the Champions Club Tennis Complex.
Reinhardt got back over .500 at 7-6 after getting doubles victories at lines two (6-4) and three (7-6). The momentum continued into singles play as Stephanie Fernandez took the top spot with a score of 6-3, 2-0 (Retire).
Glauka Carvajal wasn't far behind at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and the same could've been said for Taylor Nelson in the fourth matchup – 6-3, 6-4.
While the squad was playing against the Bees, the AAC office announced the All-Conference First and Second Teams, as well as the All-Freshmen Team.
The awards were voted on by the women's tennis coaches of the AAC.
Fernandez, a freshman from Caracas, Venezuela, entered the postseason at 9-3 at No. 1 singles (7-3 No. 2 doubles and 1-0 No. 3 doubles).
She was joined on the All-AAC list by Carvajal (6-4 No. 3 singles) and Ana Rodriquez (6-5 No. 2 singles) – who were both Second Team All-Conference.
The duo teamed up to combine for an 8-4 mark in the top spot during doubles play.
The team lines up against Union (Ky.) tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the semifinal round.
