CANTON, Ga. – No. 21 women's tennis rebounded quickly from defeat and came back to score an upset victory over No. 15 Brenau (Ga.), 5-2, at home Wednesday.
Reinhardt claimed all three doubles matches and four individual battles en route to the league triumph. With the win, the Eagles are now 5-5 overall and 4-3 inside the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Line one (Ana Rodriguez/Glauka Carvajal; 7-6), two (Stephanie Fernandez/Tayla Kruger; 6-0) and three (Taylor Nelson/Elise Standing; 6-3) swept the doubles get-togethers and helped the hometown squad to a 1-0 lead heading into individual play.
From there, the Golden Tigers watched as four more wins came across for the hosts. Fernandez improved to 2-0 on the afternoon by taking the top line in singles, 6-0, 6-2. No. 3 Carvajal wasn't far behind with a 6-3, 6-0 final and then both Nelson (7-5, 6-2) and Kruger (6-3, 7-6 (3)) earned wins at line five and six, respectively.
The team looks to keep the momentum rolling as the Buffaloes of Milligan (Tenn.) are up next on the road at 1 p.m. on Friday.
