CANTON, Ga. – Women's tennis got back to .500 on the season after claiming its first victory within the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on the year against the Rams of Bluefield (Va.), 6-1.
The Eagles (2-2) claimed all three doubles competitions and then followed that up with five victories within singles play against their conference foes.
On the doubles side, Glauka Carvajal and Ana Rodriguez teamed up in the top spot to a 6-0 count, and then lines two and three followed suit with 6-1 (Stephanie Fernandez/Taylor Nelson) and 6-1 (Sofia Guaglianone/Majenta Marcinkowski), respectively.
Carvajal kept the momentum rolling into her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, and then was followed closely by Fernandez at the top line in a 6-2, 6-0 matchup. Rodriguez would continue her winning ways with a 6-1, 6-0 positive outcome on line two, and then was joined in the winner's column by Tiffany Le Roux in a 6-1, 6-1 final score.
The advantage would move to 6-0 over the Rams after Guaglianone came out on top by the count of 6-3, 6-2.
Bluefield avoided the sweep by taking line four.
Next up is an AAC road trip to Point (Ga.) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
