Eagles Open The Conference Season With 9-0 WIN Over St. Andrews
Waleska, GA - A beautiful 1 o'clock kick off would match the tone of Reinhardt University's conference opener against the St. Andrews Knights as the Eagles would come out bright with a flurry of shots within the opening ten minutes of the match, ultimately dominating with a final score of 9-0. The Eagles are now 1-2 overall and are 1-0 in conference play.
The best chances of the game came from Marta Vicente Arche and Belle Seward with Seward being the first one to finally break the deadlock with a shot right into the top corner after some fancy footwork at the edge of the box.
Defensively, Reinhardt was the definition of composure as their backline was key in the teams ball movement with the occasional longball to switch up the rhythm of play. Reinhardt's second and third goal would come with a one two punch combo as Reece would score the first and Seward doubling her goal tally with a header soon after. The final goal of the half would come from Jenna Bruce with a wonderful run and a picture perfect finish. The half would end 4-0 with Reinhardt comfortable in their lead.
Reinlights of the first half:
The second half would follow the same pattern with Reinhardt putting the pressure on from the fist minute up until Sarah Bruce put her body on the line to hit a wallop from outside of the box. She would come off to rest with two goals to her name. Not to be outdone, Jenna Bruce, Sarah's sister, would put her name on the scoresheet less than ten minutes later with a persistent drive past the goalie and into the open net.
The scoring festival would only continue with a Riley Welsh sombrero flick on the outside of the box leading to a cannon past the arms of the outstretched goalie. The next goal of the game would come from Marley Bramsway who would knock in a misplaced clearance into an open net, and the final goal, scored by Mandy Buerkle, would arrive from a corner with five minutes left in the match. Reinardt showed their class against the Knights today with a 9-0 final score and have set the tone for the rest of the teams in the conference.
