Waleska, GA – With three straight AAC wins, the Eagles made it four with a 2-0 match over the Columbia International Rams on Wednesday afternoon. The RU offense is very strong with many players capable of scoring. Because of this, a lot of teams sit back and hone down on their defense to try and stop RU's scoring efforts. In this match, it was evident that RU was controlling the entirety of the match with 18 shots to CIU's 1.
The Eagles were able to 9 shots on goal with 2 getting to the back of the net. RU's first goal came in the first half at the 38th minute. Freshman Jenna Bruce dribbled the ball down the field before kicking it into framing it nicely for Ryelyn Wells to get her foot on it and past the goalie. The next and final goal was from Marta Vicente-Arche in the 82nd minute to finalize this 2-0 win. Arche took the ball to the front of the goal and then rebounded it off of a CIU player before kicking it across the goal line.
The Eagles are undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 record and are 4-4 overall. The next match for the Eagles will be an away game played at Montreat College on Wednesday, September 27th, at 4:30pm.
