WALESKA. GA- The Eagles have moved onto the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament Championship for the second year in a row with a win over the Skyhawks of Point University (GA.) 3-0. The Eagles started the match with energy and drive with four shots in the first 20 minutes. Reinhardt added another 4 shots to the stat sheet and was finally able to connect with the back of the net in the 36th minute. A cross from Adriana Garcia went through several defenders and Ryelyn Wells got it from the air and headed it in the lower-left corner of the goal.
Another three shots on goal before the end of the half showed the hometown squad wanted to create more movement on the scoreboard.
The Eagles were able to fulfill this desire with an early second half goal by Sierra Ruetten from the 15-yard line.
Reinhardt decided this was not enough as a deflected shot from Elisabeth Dunlap created a scoring opportunity for Lauren Akemon, who executed and made the score 3-0 with 27 minutes remaining in the half.
Reinhardt's defense asserted their control with their 10th shutout of the season, allowing only 2 shots on goal for the match.
The Eagles are looking to become back-to-back AAC Champions and will host the Truett McConnell Bears for the finals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference this Saturday, November 13th at 2:00 PM.
