Women's Soccer Outshines Buffaloes Saturday Evening
WALESKA, Ga. – Women's soccer continued its winning ways at home on Saturday evening, but had to do so coming from behind in a 4-1 win over the Buffaloes of Milligan (Tenn.).
Reinhardt's victory count is now at 12-straight (12-2, 12-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference).
"Credit to Milligan as they demonstrated how hard every conference game is," head coach Andy Kaplan said. "They were the more aggressive team for large segments of the game. I thought our team should be commended for finding a way to win when we were not particularly sharp.
Jasmine Usher, Sydney Harvey and Kirsten Gray gave our team a lot of energy. I credit them with turning the game around in our favor."
The scoreboard was quiet for nearly 41 minutes, but woke up in a big way to the tune of four total goals in less than 10 minutes of action between the end of the first period and start of the second.
The Buffaloes' Ellie Cachiaras gave her club the 1-0 advantage at 40:35, but the lead only lasted for about three minutes because the Eagles would score back-to-back goals by Adriana Garcia and Sydney Harvey in the 44th and 45th minutes, respectively.
A 2-1 halftime lead would be stretched to three after Usher earned her second assist by finding Lauren Akemon early in the second half for another score.
Sierra Ruetten put a bow on the outcome with a goal in the 82nd minute and the fourth-straight for Reinhardt on the day.
The Eagles led in shots (11-6) and corner kicks (3-1).
Defensively, Caroline Johnson played another 90 minutes in the net and made four more stops.
Montreat (N.C.) is up next on the schedule Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
