WALESKA, Ga. – The Eagles wrapped up the month of September on the soccer field with five-consecutive Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) victories after disposing of the Skyhawks of Point (Ga.), 4-1, Wednesday afternoon at home.
Ryelyn Wells and Lauren Akemon both carried the load on offense as each player alternated scores to take home two goals apiece in the win.
"A good performance by our team tonight as Point has a talented team," head coach Andy Kaplan said. "They did a number of things in the first half that prevented us from playing the way we like. I thought our players did a great job making adjustments at half time to solve some of the problems we had.
A number of players elevated their effort and focus in the second half."
Wells got her club on the board in the fifth minute for the early 1-0 advantage, but at 13:09, Point streaked down the middle of the field and found the back of the net to tie the score.
Akemon would then get into the action 16 minutes later to help regain the lead at 2-1 – and the score would stay the same until halftime.
There was a sense of déjà vu again in the second half as both Wells (61:38; from Akemon) and Akemon (80:12) each got on the score sheet one more time against the opposition.
The duo combined for eight shots in the win.
As a team, Reinhardt gathered 17 attempts while Point collected five. The Eagles also blanked the Skyhawks in corner kicks, 11-0.
The squad (5-2, 5-0 AAC) now travels to North Carolina to take on St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
