WALESKA, Ga. – The dynamic duo of Kaitlyn Lauk and Adriana Garcia combined for four Reinhardt scores and helped the Eagles improve to 9-1 on the year with a 5-0 shutout of the Knights of St. Andrews (N.C.) on Saturday afternoon.
"Our team took a big step forward today," head coach Andy Kaplan said. "We had circled today's game as the first of several challenging games in-a-row. Our team responded with one of our best performances of the season. We were aggressive defensively and very creative in our attack."
Lauk helped the hometown team earn a 2-0 advantage in the first 15:31 after netting the opening goal by herself just over five minutes in, and then doubling the Reinhardt lead off a smooth pass from Brianna Smotherman.
Six minutes later, the Eagles moved ahead, 3-0, following a score from Adriana Garcia – her first of two – and then Jasmine Usher capped off the first-half scoring after an assist from Kalyn Donegan.
Reinhardt dominated on the defensive end and controlled the ball on offense with a total of 19 shots (compared to four for the Knights).
Garcia, who led the way with seven shots, posted the final tally of the day at 66:59 with an unassisted goal.
Caroline Johnson got the start for the in-net triumph after making one save.
Montreat (N.C.) comes to town on Nov. 11 for a 4 p.m. conference battle at Ken White Field at University Stadium.
