GRAYSON, Ky. – The Eagles continued their dominance on the road with another outstanding display of offense in an 8-0 blowout of Kentucky Christian Saturday afternoon.
Reinhardt (6-1, 6-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)) has now come out on top in six-consecutive outings, outscoring the opposition 28-1 in contests away from home.
"Our team played well in all areas of the game," head coach Andy Kaplan said. "We defended well, and I thought our passing was excellent."
Kaitlyn Lauk wasted no time in getting her club on the board with a goal from Brianna Smotherman just over four minutes into the action at 40:48. The lead was doubled just about five minutes later when Lauk returned the favor – this time to Marta Vicente-Arche – who made it 2-0 with a strong strike.
Two minutes later, Adriana Garcia found the back of the net off an open-field feed from Kira Council. Ahead, 3-0, Lauk dropped an exclamation point on the first half with her second score at 28:21 (from Vicente-Arche) to head into halftime ahead by a foursome of tallies.
Kaplan was able to get some of his depth on the field for the majority of the second period, but the offensive output continued to move forward without a hitch.
Elisabeth Dunlap kept the scoring momentum swinging on the of the visitors for a 5-0 advantage compliments of another dime from Smotherman. Sierra Ruetten, who assisted each of the last three goals, helped get Sarah Voyer on the scoreboard at 18:27 – in addition to Lidia Herrera and Smotherman to finalize the scoring.
Additional analysis and information will be added when stats become available.
The Rams of Columbia International welcome Reinhardt to South Carolina for another AAC matchup on Oct. 28.
Opening whistle is 5 p.m.
