Christiansen, Eagles Clinch Decisive AAC Victory on the Road at Tennessee Wesleyan
Athens, TN - Reinhardt Women's Lacrosse scored early and often in this AAC matchup with the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan. The game was never in doubt as the Eagles took control early and never relinquished the lead.
By halftime, the Eagles had already established a significant lead with a score of 15-1, behind the attack of Brinley Christiansen, Lainey Byrne, and Emma Perritte. The game concluded with a landslide final score of 23-3. Christiansen led the scoring effort for the Eagles with an incredible 5 goals from 6 shots on goal. In total, Reinhardt unloaded 46 shots on the Bulldogs keeper compared to just 5 shots by Tennessee Wesleyan.
Marissa Davis, Lainey Byrne, and Emma Perritte followed Christiansen with 3 goals each, and Lawna Henry and Hanna Peace each added 2 goals apiece.
Several Eagles came in with single goals, including Kesley Sowa, Brooklyn Hill, Carly Harris, Jessica Lucas, and Emilie Bedard. Reinhardt did most of their damage in the first half, scoring fifteen goals, however, they still added eight total in the second half.
Casey Kidd, Kelsey Sowa, and Lainey Byrne all had significant roles in securing draw controls for the Eagles. At the time of the stat release after the game, Kidd was credited with 7, Sowa had 4, and Byrne had 6.
Goalkeeping duties were proficiently handled by Madison Hasty, Katie Musulman, and Audrey Dodge. They did not receive much pressure from the opposing Bulldogs attack, but they did their jobs by only allowing three total goals. Helping the goalkeepers on the defensive end were players like Brooke Dawdy, Kenzie Barrial, and Sydney Tucker.
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to host the Truett McConnell Bears on Wednesday afternoon in Waleska. The team currently holds a promising record of 5-3 overall, with a 1-0 mark in conference play. The final five games for the Eagles are all AAC opponents. All are winable games and will have significance on postseason play - both the AAC and NAIA.
