Waleska, GA - In a challenging regular-season home opener, the Reinhardt Eagles fell to the SCAD Bees with a score of 19-9 on a sunlit afternoon at Ken White Field, in Waleska, GA on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles, who are the reigning national champions, started their season facing a tough opponent. Despite a promising first half, where they trailed the Bees 8-6, the Eagles were not able to maintain their momentum into the second half. SCAD Savannah managed to widen the gap, ultimately taking the win. Key performers for the Eagles included Brooklyn Hill and Brinley Christiansen, who each scored three goals. Christiansen also contributed an assist along with Casey Kidd, Emilie Bedard, Hanna Peace, and Kelsey Sowa, showing a solid team effort.
Defensively, Madison Hasty held position as goalie for the Eagles. The game had significant moments, including a crucial game-tying goal by Christiansen, which marked a turning point in the game. However, the Bees' offense proved too strong, ultimately winning the game.
Looking ahead, the Eagles aim to regroup and come back stronger in their next game scheduled on Saturday, February 15th, against Piedmont College. This game will be held at home at 11am. The match promises to be another exciting event as the Eagles try to rebound from this early setback and build on their historic success from last season.
