RU WLAX is Moving On to the Semi-Finals of the NAIA National Tournament!!

Savannah, GA – The Reinhardt women's lacrosse team came into the NAIA Tournament ranked at #1. Their first match-up was against Missouri Baptist and the Eagles walked away with the victory on Wednesday morning with a final score of 17-10.

Reinhardt got off to a hot start, as the offense was able to score 4 straight goals, including 2 from Jillian Mello. Although Missouri Baptist answered with a few goals of their own, RU was leading 5-3 after the 1^st quarter. 

Coming out of the 2^nd, the Spartans of Missouri Baptist were able to get one through to close the lead to just one goal. However, RU scored 2 more from Shelby O'Neil and Lainey Byrne to extend the lead to 3. In the final 20 seconds of the 2^nd, Missouri Baptist and Reinhardt traded goals, making the score 8-5 at halftime. 

In the 3^rd, the scoring was closley tied but the Eagles outscored the Spartans 4-3. Finally in the 4^th, Reinhardt extended their lead and closed out the game 17-10 to put the Spartans out of the tournament. 

RU's Jillian Mello played a great offensive game, totaling 5 goals and 3 assists. Another Reinhardt player to mention is Shelby O'Neil, who continuously dominates on the offensive and defensive side. O'Neil totaled 4 goals, 2 assists, 2 draw-controls, caused 2 turnovers, and picked up 5 ground-balls. Winning goalie, Madison Hasty totaled 13 great saves to help her team to the victory. 

The Eagles will be moving onto the Semi-Finals tomorrow, May 2^nd, and will be playing SCAD at 3pm ET.
