RU Celebrates Senior Night In 28-4 WIN Over TMU
Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt women's lacrosse team played in their last home game on Wednesday night against the Truett-McConnell Bears and earned the big 28-4 win.
The game also served as Senior Night, as the 2024 Women's Lacrosse Seniors were in honored as they played in their last home game as a Reinhardt Eagle. The Eagles celebrated 9 seniors in Brooklyn Hill, Ashley Steele, Hailey Ririe, Mia Grisowld, Angela Sciacchitano, Torrie Smith, Shelby O'Neil, and Anna-Marie Gazzo.
The Eagles got off to a quick start, as they went down and scored on the opening drive of the game. The strong offense continued as they Eagles scored their 10th goal with 6:37 left in the 1st to force a running clock. This Reinhardt continues to be a huge threat in the NAIA as they sit in the #1 spot, thanks to the many RU offensive weapons. In fact, RU had 12 different players score 1 or more goals in this TMU match-up.
Senior, Shelby O'Neil played an impressive game as she recorded 4 goals, 6 assists, 8 draw-controls, and picked up 9 ground-balls. Senior, Anna Marie Gazzo led in goals wirh 5 and added 4 assists. Another offensive threat to mention is Jillian Mello, who recorded 3 goals and 3 assists which marked her 200th career point. Lastly, Samantha Poole and Defender, Ashley Steele, each recorded a hat-trick to contribute to RU's 28 goals.
Defensively, Lainey Byrne, Mia Griswold, and Shelby O'Neil each caused 2 TMU turnovers. Reinhardt also had the chance to play 3 different goalies, while Audrey Dodge led in saves with 3 with no goals allowed.
With only a couple of games left, the Eagles now sit with a 10-1 record overall and are 4-0 in the AAC. Up next, RU will be traveling to play Tennessee Wesleyan this upcoming Saturday, March 30th, at 12pm.
