Five Eagles Named to NAIA All-American Teams
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA announced the 2023 NAIA Women's Lacrosse All-Americans and Coach and Player of the Year.
Reinhardt Women's Lacrosse had five players selected for the 1st and 2nd teams. Angela Schiaccitano, Anna Marie Gazzo, and Jillian Mello were selected as 1st Team members and Ashley Steele and Shelby O'Neil were selected for the 2nd Team.
Each one of these ladies had a tremendous season for the Eagles. They all were recognized both in the Appalachian Atheltic Conference and the NAIA for their efforts.
Jillian Mello was ranked second in the nation in shots with 126 and third in the nation in shots on goal with 101. She had 64 total goals for the Eagles, which is a tie with fellow All-American, Shelby O'Neil. O'Neil led the team in overall points with 97 total.
Anna Marie Gazzo was not far behind with 55 goals and 76 total points.
Schiaccitano and Steele were the defensive force for the Eagles this season. Schiaccitano led the team with 34 caused turnovers and Steele was in second with 31 total. This is Steele's second time being named an NAIA All-American.
The Eagles will, unfortunately, be losing Jillian Mello as she has graduated, but the rest are coming back and will be looking to get back to the NAIA National Tournament to try to get the championship in their senior seasons.
