Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Visiting Siena Heights

Waleska, GA - Women's Lacrosse was able to dodge the bad weather on Monday afternoon to get in their game by visiting Siena Heights who traveled from Michigan. Siena Heights is doing. souther road trip playing several southern state schools before returning to Michigan. The Eagles were looking to rebound from their narrow loss to Life on Friday evening. The Eagles are 2-1 going into this game and are nationally ranked #5.
The Eagles would start off slow in this game trading goals for the first part of the first quarter. Siena Heights would strike first in the first two minutes of the game, but Alyssa Klinger would answer right back with a goal for the Eagles. The first significant lead came when the Eagles were able to put in three straight goals by Mia Griswold, Kelsey Sowa, and Macy Fulton giving Reinhardt a 4-2 lead.
The Saints would tie the game again at four all and then the Eagles went on another run with goals from Shelby O'Neil, Morgan McGhee, and Klinger who got her second goal of the game ending the first quarter up 7-5. The Eagles would not look back from this point in the game. The lead was extended to six goals in the second quarter where Jillian Mello would start to heat up. McGhee and Klinger would make their marks again scoring a goal each. Reinhardt took a commanding 12-6 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, Jesse Landers and the defense would only allow two more goals and limit the Saints' shots on goal as well. The offense would keep rolling led by Klinger, Mello, and Company. Anna-Marie Gazzo would get a goal in the third quarter as well to help Reinhardt take the huge 18-7 lead.
With the clock now running, the Eagles would be able to enjoy themselves. They cruised to victory bringing their record to 3-1 on the season. Alyssa Klinger and Jillian Mello would lead the Eagles with 5 goals each. Morgan McGhee had 4 goals to go with her team/game leading 9 assists. Mia Griswold, Shelby O'Neil, and Kelsey Sowa all had 2 goals each.
The Eagles will have a few days' rests until their next game on Thursday evening when Benedictine College from Kansas comes to town. Following this game, the Eagles will have seven straight conference games to finish up the regular season.
