Reinhardt Eagles Basketball Concludes Season with AAC Semi-Finals
Kingsport, TN. - In an intense face-off during the AAC semi-finals held at MeadowView Marriott in Kingsport, Tenn., the Reinhardt University Eagles basketball team played their last game of the season against Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs, ending with a final score of 88-69 in favor of the Bulldogs.
The game started off with Tennessee Wesleyan taking an early lead, highlighted by accurate three-point shooting. Reinhardt's I'ziah McCutchins, Laphina Campbell, and Julia Craft put up a valiant fight, contributing significantly to Reinhardt's efforts. Despite a notable halftime gap with Tennessee leading 47-31, the Eagles showed resilience in the subsequent periods. Rapid plays by Julia Craft and Niya Moon highlighted Reinhardt's attempts to catch up. Campbell, alongside Craft and McCutchins, led in scoring and defensive plays, with McCutchins scoring significant three-pointers and Campbell excelling in rebounds and steals.
During the season, the Eagles celebrated noteworthy achievements. Julia Craft reached a personal milestone, scoring 1,000 points. Notable recognitions were awarded to the team; Noelle Lavery was named AAC newcomer of the year and first team all-conference, while Laphina Campbell was honored in the AAC defensive team and second team all-conference along with Craft. Furthermore, Craft also received the champions of character award, and both I'ziah McCutchins and Na'Yel Camper were named to the AAC all-freshman team. The academic commitment of the Eagles was also commendable with nine players named to the AAC all-academic team.
With a final season record of 22-8, the Eagles wrapped up their season strongly, highlighting not only their athletic performance but also their academic and personal achievements.
