RU WBB Advances to AAC Semifinals After 56-42 WIN Over TWU!!
Kingsport, TN – The Reinhardt women's basketball team was ranked #2 heading into the AAC Tournament this week in Kingsport, TN. RU's dominating season of 25-2 gave them the first-round bye and then matched up versus Tennessee Wesleyan in the AAC Quarterfinals. The Eagles ultimately took down the TWU Bulldogs with a final score of 56-42.
The Eagles got off to a quick lead in the first quarter and maintained the score of 14-2 into the second. RU did a great job maintaining the lead throughout the entirety of the game, not giving it up once. They also did a great job, controlling the game as they led TWU in all but one statistical category to force the Bulldogs to a season end.
Offensively, Ashley Woodroffe led the RU offense with 15 points and led in steals with 3. Ty Williams also played a great game, totaling 13 points. Maria Sanchez Ponce controlled the board with 11 rebounds, while Tarrah Gibson added 9.
As the Eagles move on to the AAC Semifinals, they will be playing the winner of the Milligan-Montreat match-up tomorrow, March 1st, at 8pm.
