Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt women's basketball team played in their last home regular season game versus AAC opponents, the Montreat College Cavaliers, on Saturday afternoon, where the Eagles earned the 69-54 for their 24th win of the season. This game also served as Senior Night as Reinhardt honored 6 different seniors in Tarrah Gibson, Ashley Woodroffe, as they played in their last home game as a Reinhardt Eagle.
The 6 seniors that were celebrated have made huge and lasting impacts on the RU women's team and at the University. Graduate Student, Tarrah Gibson, embodies what it means to be an RU Eagle as she is and continues to lead on and off the court. Graduate Student, Ashley Woodroffe, is a huge offensive weapon for the Eagles as she is the 2nd leading scorer and is a super fun player to watch. The last graduate student is Ty Williams, who is a transfer from Brenau and joined RU this year. She has been a huge help this season in scoring and on defense. Senior, Marlie Townley proves to show leadership and heart for this team any time she steps the floor. Senior, Avanna Preston, who does a tremendous job running the offense and stays extremely disciplined and aggressive on defense. Senior, Jakiyah Keith, joined the RUWBB program this year and stands out as a huge fan favorite. And finally, senior manager, Kimberlyn Black, was a player on the RU team and is now a manager but it's evident to see how much she loves this team and is a strong leader for them.
The Eagles now sit with an 20-1 record in the AAC and have a 24-1 record overall. With only one regular season game remaining, the Eagles will be playing at Tennessee Wesleyan this upcoming Saturday, February 24th, at 2pm.
Outstanding Performers:
- Ashley Woodroffe led the Eagles' offense with 23 points. Woodroffe also led in assists with 5 and steals with 3.
- Julia Craft was the second leading scorer with 12 points.
- Tarrah Gibson led in rebounds with 10 and blocks with 2.
