RU WBB earns WIN at Home over Johnson Royals 85-77 with 32 Point Performance from Ashley Woodroffe
Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt women's basketball team played in a competitive match-up on Saturday afternoon and came out with the win over the Johnson Royals 85-77. This has been the closest contest RU has had with another AAC team, but the Eagles continue to prove they're a top team as they sit with a 16-0 record.
Reinhardt got off to an early lead as they had an electric first and second quarter scoring 23 and 28 points to Johnson's 13 and 12 points. The last half of the game saw Johnson close the gap outscoring RU by 2 points in the third quarter and went on a 34-14 run in the 4th. In the end, RU pulled out the win due to tenacious offense that comes from multiple players that can score. The final score was 85-77 as RU kept their dominating and undefeated record in check.
Ashley Woodroffe was a huge standout in Reinhardt's performance as she scored 32 points, which included multiple steals that led to fast breaks and was 4-7 from the 3-point line. Maria Sanchez Ponce also played a great game with 21 points.
The Eagles now sit with an 12-0 record in the AAC and have a 16-0 record overall. Reinhardt has 2 more home games in this upcoming week with a match-up versus Kentucky Christian on Wednesday, January 18th, at 5:30pm. Then RU will be playing in another game versus the Columbia Koalas on Saturday, January 20th at 2pm.
