Waleska, Ga. - The Reinhardt Eagles softball team celebrated two wins and Senior Day on Saturday against Columbia College. The final scores were both 8-0, and both finished early in 5 innings. The RU softball seniors celebrated was Shelby Nutter, Kyra Lightner, Zoe Porche, & Bella Krauth. The Eagles now sit with an overall record of 22-8 and are 19-5.
Game One, RU 8-0:
The Eagles showed their dominance early on, with Taylor Wade leading the charge. Wade had a standout performance, hitting a home run, a triple, and stealing two bases. Her efforts contributed to three of the team's eight runs. Maddie Wright, Jolie Splendore, and Addyson Garris also crossed the plate, contributing to the solid offensive performance.
The game's pivotal moment came in the fifth inning when Reinhardt exploded for six runs. This inning alone significantly extended their lead and showcased their batting strength. Not just Wade, but Emma Scott also had a noteworthy game, blasting a homer as part of this crucial inning. RBI contributions came from a range of players including Ansley Hight, who knocked in two runs, and Kyra Lightner, Zoe Porche, and Molly Stevens, each adding an RBI.
On the defensive side, Bella Krauth was exceptional at the mound. Krauth pitched four innings, allowing just one hit and securing three strikeouts without surrendering any runs. This shutdown performance was key in keeping Columbia at bay throughout the contest.
Game Two, RU 8-0
The Eagles' lineup fired on all cylinders, led by Molly Stevens who scored two runs, contributing significantly to the final score. Other key players including Emma Scott, Macy Langley, Shallyn Olszowy, Ansley Hight, Kyra Lightner, and Shelby Nutter also crossed the plate in this lopsided affair.
Starting pitcher Macy Langley delivered from the circle, pushing Reinhardt toward a shutout. The game's highlights include a significant 2nd inning where the Eagles started their run with three runs, followed by a powerful 3rd inning adding five more, thanks to home runs by Ansley Hight, Kyra Lightner, and Shallyn Olszowy. These players not only scored but also earned recognition for their crucial RBIs; Olszowy notably contributed three RBI's.
