Pikeville, KY. - The Reinhardt University softball soared high to a 12-0 and a 15-7 victory over the Pikeville Bears in an AAC conference match-up held in Pikeville, Ky., on Thursday afternoon.
GAME ONE (12-0, 5 innings):
From the outset, the Eagles' offense was unstoppable. Eryn Lee led the charge with three runs, followed closely by Jolie Splendore, who also dashed home three times. Significant contributions came from Maddie Wright, Taylor Wade, Ansley Hight, Addyson Garris, and Maggie English, collectively amassing the team's 12 runs against the Bears. Ansley Hight's exceptional performance included a remarkable 3-RBI triple in the pivotal fourth inning, sparking a major scoring spree for Reinhardt.
Pitching for the Eagles, Anslie Pettit delivered a mesmerizing performance on the mound. Her complete game shutout included seven strikeouts, shutting down Pikeville's lineup effectively.
GAME TWO (15-7, 6 innings):
Eryn Lee led the charge for Reinhardt with three runs scored, contributing significantly to the team's robust offensive performance. Notably, Taylor Wade also stood out by driving in three runs on two doubles among her three hits. The game's key moments included Ansley Hight's three-RBI double in the second inning and Kyra Lightner's crucial 3-run homer in the first, which set an early tone favoring the Eagles. Lightner's prowess didn't stop there, as she also added two runs and three RBIs to her impressive game-day stats. The pitching duties were effectively handled by Bella Krauth and Taylor Haymans, with Haymans clinching the win highlighted by four strikeouts.
