The Eagles Fall to GA Gwinnett in Away Double-Header

Lawrenceville, GA - In an eagerly anticipated softball showdown at the Grizzly SB Complex in Lawrenceville, Ga., the Reinhardt University Eagles faced a tough battle against the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies on Tuesday afternoon. Despite a sunny afternoon, the Eagles could not secure the win, falling 3-0 and 7-2 to the Grizzlies in this regular-season encounter.

The first game was decisive, particularly in the third inning when Georgia Gwinnett's S Sick hit a two-run double, significantly extending the lead for the Grizzlies. This double, a key moment in the event, put Reinhardt University in a difficult position from which they couldn't recover, winning 3-0

In the 2nd game, starting pitcher Anslie Pettit took the mound for Reinhardt University, striving to contain the Grizzlies' hitters. Despite her efforts, the Eagles conceded seven runs. For Reinhardt, Ansley Hight and Emma Scott were the key contributors, scoring the only runs for the team. Kyra Lightner, notably stepping up in a pinch-hit situation in the fourth inning, delivered a 2-RBI double that briefly raised hopes for a comeback but RU ultimatley fell 7-2 to GGC.

With this loss, Reinhardt's overall record now stands at 3-3 and they maintain a solid 2-0 in the AAC. Up next, the Eagles are set to host Spartanburg Methodist in a double-header at home on following day, Wednesday, February 26th, at 2pm and 4pm.
