Eagles Matched-Up Against William Carey in Opening-Round of Hattiesburg Bracket
Hattiesburg, MS – After winning the AAC regular-season and championship, the Reinhardt softball team qualified for the NAIA Softball Championship. The Eagles will begin with a 5-team double-elimination tournament, where the winner will move to the final site in Columbus, GA for the 2024 World Series.
The Eagles was ranked at #3 in the Hattiesburg bracket along with #1 Jessup, #2 William Carey, #4 Indiana-Southeast, and #5 Stillman. The Eagles first matched up against William Carey and ultimately lost 3-2.
This game saw William Carey earn the first runs of the game in the 1st inning, when 2 players were able to score off of RU errors. However, Reinhardt answered in the 2nd inning when Jill Martinet hit a bomb over the fence to make the score 2-1. Then, in the 5th inning, RU's Emily Loveless scored a nice double to left center, allowing Kyra Lighter across home, to even up the score at 2-2. Finally, in the 6th, WCU was able to score to make the final 3-2.
Up next, the Eagles will be playing to keep their season alive with a game against Indiana-Southeast. This game will be played tomorrow, May 14th, at 4pm.
