Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt Eagle softball team had a 4-0 weekend at home over Columbia International and Pikeville University. The Eagles beat CIU with the final scores of 7-3 and 15-6. Then the Eagles beat Pikeville 8-0 and 7-0 the following day.
The Eagle first matched up against AAC opponents, the CIU Rams on Friday afternoon. Game one saw RU get off to a quick 2-0 lead after the 1st inning. The Eagles continued with offensive success through out the remainder of the game, earning 7 runs to CIU's 3.
RU's Emily Loveless led the offensive effort, with 1 homerun, 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and scored 2 total runs. Eryn Lee led in RBIs with 3, while Alexis Teems and Ansley Evans each added 1. Lee and Teems also recorded 2 hits each.
Then in game two, the Eagles scored in every inning resulting in a 15-6 win, forcing the game to an early end after the 5th inning.
Emily Loveless earned herself another homerun, while also adding 3 RBIs, 2 hits, and scored 2 runs. Hannah Kate Singleton led in RBIs with 4 and added a homerun, while 3 other RU players added 3 RBIs each.
Then on the following day, Saturday, the Eagles played the Pikeville Bears and earned 2 shut-down wins. The first game was 8-0 after a strong performance in the 3rd inning, that gave RU 6 runs. The final score was 8-0 and ended after the 5th inning.
Molly Stevens led in RBIs with 2 after a homer hit over the fence. Jill Martinet led in hits with 3, while Emily Loveless, Alexis Teems, and Eryn Lee added 2 a piece.
Finally in game two of the series against Pikeville, the Eagles earned the 7-0 win. Taylor Wade hit a great ball down the left field line, that allowed her to make her way all the way around all four bases to earn the homerun. Wade, Eryn Lee, Kylie Freije, and Molly Stevens each earned 2 hits in the game. Wade and Lee also led in RBIs with 2 a piece.
The Eagles now sit with 27-7 overall recorded and remain undefeated in conference play with a 16-0 record. Up next, the Eagles will be hosting Tennesee Wesleyan this upcoming Tuesday, April 9th, at 1pm and 3pm.
