RU Softball Stays Undefeated in Conference Play
Waleska, GA - RU Softball continued their great season on Wednesday at Ken White Softball Field by taking two wins versus the visiting Bears of Truett McConnell. The Eagles got outstanding pitching performances from Whiteny Shepherd in game one and Ally Andriano in game two. Catcher and thirdbaseman, Molly Stevens, was super-hot at the plate and nearly batted a thousand for the day.
Game One
Whitney Sherpherd got the start for the Eagles in game one and she had a great day in the circle. She pitched all seven innings and struckout 5 batters while keep the Bears to just one run. She scattered 4 hits over the seven innings and picked up her 7th win of the season. She currently has a 2.34 era in almost 84 innings pitched.

Offensively, the Eagles did all the damage needed in the first inning scoring four runs, but they added a run in each of the second and fifth innings for comfort. Molly Stevens, Ansley Evans, and Kylie Freije all singled in the bottom of the first to score the four runs. Evans single scored both Stevens and Alexis Teems.
Stevens also scored Teems in the second on her first double of the day and the last run came from a sac-fly off the bat of Freije. In game one, Stevens was perfect 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, however, her good day at the plate would continue on in game two of the doubleheader.
Game Two
Ally Andriano got the call for the second game and she was able to pitch all seven innings for the Eagles and pick up the win. Andriano was able to strike out 6 batters in her innings and controlled the game by scattering their four runs over the seven innings. The Bears were able to get 8 hits, however, the Eagles offense kept the game close through the first three innings. They picked things up in the fourth by getting the game tied and then took the lead in the fifth. The sixth inning is where the Eagles pullded away by scoring three runs going up 8-3. Truett McConnell added one run in the top of the seventh, but that would be as close as they would get.
Andriano extends her season record to 9-1 so far the season with a 2.07 era.

Offensively, Stevens was again the hot bat for the Eagles, but she had some help from firstbaseman Jill Martinet. Stevens was 3 for 4 in the game with a triple. She finished with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Martinet was 2 for 4 with a double that came in the sixth inning and scored two runs. She had 3 total RBIs in the game to lead the Eagles.
Hannah Kate Singleton was 2 for 4 in the game as well and Emily Loveless was 1 for 4 with a double.
