RU Softball Collects 2 Wins in Doubleheader at Bryan College

Dayton, TN – The Reinhardt softball team made their way to play the Bryan College Lions on Friday afternoon and earned the sweep with the final scores of 9-0 and 4-0. The Eagles now sit with an overall record of 20-6 and are 10-0 in the AAC.

In game one of the series, RU got on the board quickly with a grounded out hit by Molly Stevens. Then in the 3^rd inning, a error by the pitcher and a 2 RBI single from Kylie Freije allowed the Eagles up to 4-0. The Eagles also were able to get another run in the 4^th and then saw 3 more answered runs in the 6^th, including two doubles back-to-back from Stevens and Ansley Evans, to take game one 8-0 in a 6-innings close.

Emily Loveless, Alexis Teems, Ansley Evans, and Shallyn Olszowy each recorded 2 hits. Molly Stevens led in RBIs with 3, while Kylie Freije and Ansley Evans each added 2. Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher and played a great game, totaling 11 strikeouts, no walks, and allowed no runs. 

Then in game two, it was evident that the momentum from game one carried through as RU was able to score 3 runs in the top of the 1^st to take the lead early. As one more run came from the Eagles in inning four, the Lions continued to struggle to get any players across home. In the end, RU won 4-0 in game two to sweep the series. 

Kylie Frejie went 3-3 at bat, while Emily Loveless recorded 2 hits. Loveless, Alex Teems, and Ansley Evans each recorded an RBI. Ally Andriano was the winning pitcher and recorded 6 total strikeouts.

Up next, RU will get another chance at Georgia Gwinnett as they will be traveling to play the Grizzlies this upcoming Tuesday, March 26^th, at 4pm and 6pm.
