Eagles Take the Away Sweep Over Brenau Tigers in AAC Match-Up
GAINESVILLE, GA.- The Reinhardt Eagle softball team traveled to play in an AAC double-header versus the Brenau University Tigers on Thursday night. The Eagles ultimately walked away with a 2-0 sweep over the Tigers, winning the first game 6-0 and then took the second game 4-1. The Reinhardt Eagles are still sitting at No. 1 in the AAC with a record of 14-2 and a record of 19-9 overall.
Game One: Reinhardt 6, Brenau 0
Reinhardt got off to an early lead to go up 1-0 with a run from Alexis Teems. The Eagles then saw 3 more runs in the 3rd inning to go up 4-0. Kylie Freije hit a double to right field, allowing Emily Loveless across home plate. Then Freije made her way to home, thanks to a hit from Molly Stevens. The last run in the 3rd inning came from a hit by Taylor Wade to help Stevens to home. Emily Loveless and Kylie Freije each had a homerun in the 7th, to go up 6 runs to nothing. The Eagles had 13 hits all-together and the defense kept Brenau scoreless to clench game one.
Leaders:
- Kylie Freije led the Eagle offense, going 3-4 at bat with 2 RBIs, scored 2 runs, and added a homer. Emily Loveless also played a great offensive game with 2 RBIs, 2 runs, and a homerun.
- Molly Stevens and Taylor Wade each recorded an RBI. Wade also had 2 stolen bases.
- Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher with 2 strikeouts and an IP of 7.0

Game Two: Reinhardt 4, Brenau 1
Game two saw a empty score board up until the 5th inning when Eagle, Kyra Lightner, hit a homerun to earn the first run of the game. Brenau answered with a run of their own to tie the game 1-1. After there wasn't any more runs scored, the game was forced to an 8th inning. This led to the Eagles putting the game away to score 3 runs with hits from Emily Loveless and Molly Stevens, and then Kylie Freije was able to make her way home by a Brenau error. Reinhardt ultimately took game two 4-1 to sweep this 2-game series over the Tigers.
