Eagles Take The Sweep in Home Double-Header Over Milligan
WALESKA, Ga.- The Reinhardt Eagle softball team played in a home double-header versus the Milligan University Buffs on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles ultimately took the 2-0 sweep over the Buffs. They won the first game 2-1 due to an exciting last-inning hit and then won 9-1 to force a 5-inning game. The Eagles are having a fantastic season so far with an overall record of 16-8 and are sitting at No. 1 in the conference with an AAC record of 11-1.
Game One: Reinhardt 2, Milligan 1
Game one saw Milligan getting their first and only run in the 2nd inning and then game was quiet after that, up until the Eagles' final at-bat in the 7th inning where Kylie Freije hit a triple to right field to score in Emily Loveless for the tying run. Then, with Freije on third, Molly Stevens was up-to-bat and hit a shot to shortstop to score in the deciding run to win the 1st game 2-1. While the offense was slow the entirety of the game, the Eagles showed up in when they needed to to take the first game of the series. Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher with 6 total strikeouts.

Game Two: Reinhardt 9, Milligan 1
You could tell that the momentum from the end of the first game carried straight into this one for Reinhardt. The Eagles were able to get 2 runs on the board in the first inning with a hit from both Emily Loveless and Molly Stevens. The runs kept coming in for the Eagles as they were able to get 3 more runs in the 2nd inning and two more in the 3rdto go up 7-1. Then, in the bottom of the 5th inning, a hit from Ansley Evans allowed Molly Stevens and Emily Loveless across home to force the game to an early 5-inning game. Reinhardt took this game 9-1 to secure the sweep over the Milligan Buffs.
