Eagles Split with TMU but Remain #1 in the AAC

CLEVELAND, Ga.- The Reinhardt Eagle softball team traveled to play Truett-McConnell in a competitive double-header on Thursday night. Reinhardt and TMU have been at the top of the leaderboard in the AAC so both teams came to play. The Eagles ultimately took game one 3-2 and lost the second game 4-1. But due to this being Reinhardt's first lost in conference, they are still sitting in the #1 spot with a record of 9-1 in the AAC and are 14-8 overall.
Game One: Reinhardt 3, TMU 2
Game one saw the taking a early lead in the 2nd inning with a SAC hit from Taylor Wade to get their first run on the board from Kyra Lightner. No runs were scored until TMU answered with a homerun to get a point of their own in the bottom of the 5th. With the game tied at 1-1 and coming into the final inning. Both teams knew this was their chance to clench the first game. Reinhardt was up to bat first and a single to right-field from Alexis Griffith saw 2 runs scored for the Eagles to give them them the 3-1 lead. Tmu was able to get one more run in the bottom of the deciding inning but it wasn't enough where Reinhardt took the game 3-2. Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher totaling 4 strikeouts and walked none.
Leaders:
- Alexis Griffith led the way offensively, going 2-4 at bat with 2 RBIS. Griffith also stole 2 bases.
- Kyra Lightner also had a great offensive day, going 2-3 at bat with one run.
- Taylor Wade also recorded an RBI.

Game Two: Reinhardt 1, TMU 4
Game two saw a different outcome for the Eagles. TMU homered in the bottom of the 1st to go up 2-0 and then was able to score again in the 4th and 5th inning to go headed 4 runs to nothing. Emily Loveless slammed a home-run in the top of the 6th to give Reinhardt their first run but the Eagles were not able to get anymore across the plate. TMU ultimately took the second game 4-1 to take a 1-1 split with the Eagles.

- Emily Loveless led the offense, going 1-3 at bat with a home-run and an RBI.
- Molly Stevens was also able go 1-1.
- Eryn Lee and Taylor Wade each stole a base.
