Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt Softball team played in their very first home opener this past Sunday, February 5th. This was a double-header versus the Knights of Middle GA State. MGSU won the first game 6-2 and then the Eagles bounced back and took the second game 2-1. The Eagles are now 1-1 in regular play and will continue with another double-header the following Thursday. The Eagles have been working hard to have a great season under their new head coach, David Dews, and the fans are excited to watch.
Game One: Reinhardt 2, Middle GA 6
Following two scoreless innings, the Knights were able to get one run on the board in the 3rd inning and 2 in the 4th. The Eagles then answered with 2 runs in the 5th thanks to a hit by Ashley Young and a sacrifice fly by Ansley Evans. But with the one run advantage, the Knights scored 3 runs in the 6th which ultimately got them the win 6-2. Middle Ga State had 10 hits to the Eagles' 4. Ally Andriano was the starting pitcher for Reinhardt 5 strike-outs.
SCORING PLAYS:
- Ashley Young grounded out to 2b, but was able to get Alexis Griffith across home plate for the first run for the Eagles.
- Ansley Evans hit a sacrifice fly to score in Taylor Wade.

Game Two: Reinhardt 2, Middle GA 1
After 3 innings of no runs from either side, Reinhardt was able to get one on the board in the 4th to go up 1-0. Middle GA was able to tie it up in the top of the 6th and Reinhardt answered quickly to score the winning run the same inning to clench the win 2-1. Reinhard had 8 hits to Middle Ga's 7.
SCORING PLAYS:
- Hannah Singleton hit a single to center field, allowing Ashley Young to cross the home-plate to put the Eagles up by 1.
- Eryn Lee bombed one to right field, scoring the game-winning run from Alexis Griffith.
