Eagles Lose to Tennessee Wesleyan But Still Alive in AAC
Kingsport, TN - The Eagles were not able to get a run across the plate today in a tough pitching matchup with Tennessee Wesleyan. This portion of the tournament is double-elimination so the Eagles still have a chance to move on.
The tournament started with ten teams on Monday and today the tournament is down to just six teams. Tennessee Wesleyan are the two remaining unbeaten teams and they will face each other tomorrow with the winner moving on to the championship game. Reinhardt will have to keep winning the rest of the way, but they still have a chance to move on to the final game. It is now win or go home for the Eagles. They will face Brenau on Thursday at 1 pm and if they win this game they will have to play again at 5 pm against the winner of the other elimination game.
In the game on Wednesday, the Eagles could not get anything going offensively. Tennessee Wesleyan's pitching kept the Eagles from getting anything going in the game and the runs off the board. Bella Krauth would be in the circle for the Eagles and she pitched a good game as well, but the Eagles did allow two runs to cross the plate in the second inning and that would be the difference in the game. Krauth would have two strikeouts and allowed six hits in her four innings of work. After pitching a great game on Tuesday, Ally Andriano would come in to relieve Krauth in the fifth inning and she would pitch three innings of shutout softball the rest of the way. She would end up with three strikeouts and only allowed three hits. It was just the second inning that got the Eagles in this one.
Offensively, the Eagles did not have much in the statistics department. Alexis Teems, Jill Martinet, Kyra Lightner, Lauren Parker, and Kalyn Jinks would all get hits in the game, but that would be about it for stats in this game. Look for the Eagles to rebound in the first game tomorrow versus Brenau and move onto the 5 pm game. The AAC Tournament will wrap up on Friday with the championship game at 1 pm. If necessary, there will be a final 3 pm game to decide the champion.
