Simon and Mahoney Lead the Way for Cross Country at Bobcat Invitational
Milledgeville, GA - Reinhardt Cross Country traveled to Milledgeville early Saturday morning to compete at the Georgia College and State University Bobcat Invitational held at the Council Farms XC Course. Both teams had success and records broken with the men's and women's teams placing 3rd in their races.
Senior Brooke Simon was the top finisher on the women's side, running a 20:39 in the women's 5k. On the men's side, Braniff Mahoney was the top Eagle with a time of 27:43 in the men's 8k. Simon was in 13th place overall and Mahoney made the top ten finishing 9th overall and an average mile time of 5:31!
The women behind Simon had a lot of success as well. Freshman Rylee Fisher finished just behind Simon with a time of 20:55 in 15th position overall. Finishing out the women's side was sophomore Sara James (21:53), Noelle Dawes (22:29), Teara Snider (22:32), and Lily Tullock (22:42). This was a great effort by the women's team all finishing under the twenty-three-minute mark.
Finishing out the men's side was Jorge Mares who was right on the tail of Mahoney with a time of 27:43. Mares finished in 15th place overall. Sophomore Noah Jones finished 16th overall with a time of 28:03. Benjamin Pearce was 19th overall with a time of 28:15.
Rounding out the rest of the field on the men's side were Will Ort (28:50), Uriel Guzman (28:51), Wes Fow (29:21), and Christopher Smith (30:25).
Next up for Reinhardt Cross Country is a trip to Huntsville, Alabama for the Huntsville Invitational on Saturday, October 12th. The men will run an 8k and the women will be running a 6k.
