Reinhardt Continues to Build Foundation at Alexander/ASICS Invitational
FAIRBURN, Ga. – (Results) Both the men's and women's cross country squads got up early to race in the Alexander/ASICS Invitational in Alabama on Saturday morning, and their performances laid the foundation for a strong finish to the fall season against a field consisting primarily of NCAA student-athletes.
As a group, the men's side was able to finish in 16th out of 23 teams (2:21:21), while the women crossed the finish line in 21st place overall.
Braden Ray paced the Reinhardt runners in his 8K competition with a finish of 27:40.8, and for the Eagle women, freshman Brooke Simon earned a top-50 placement with a 5K run of 19:31.3 (46th of 236 racers).
"Good day of racing for our entire team as I saw a lot of positives today on the course," head coach Jordan Turner said. "Braden and Brooke both ran really well to lead our teams. Was a little more of a challenging course due to some elevation at the finish, but I was proud to see how we gained spots on the course and where we gained time against common opponents, teams and individuals from two weeks ago.
Our entire team is starting to turn a corner in training and I'm looking for big season and multiple personal bests at our next meet."
