Jenkins & The Eagles Pick Up Fourth Dual Win at Montevallo

Montevallo, AL - Reinhardt Wrestling took a break from the weekend tournaments to take on the University of Montevallo on Tuesday evening. The Eagles did enough in the early matches to push them through for the dual win.

Angel Banda started the night picking up a forfeit win at 125 and led the way for five wins out of the ten total matches. Banda's forfeit win picked up six points for the Eagles which ended up making a huge difference in the dual.

Also picking up wins were Garrett Pace at 141, Devin Griffen at 149, Matt Jenkins at 165, and Wyatt Higgins at 174. Pace, Griffen, and Jenkins had the most dominant matches of the night. Pace's win was a major decision 13 to 2, while Griffen and Jenkins at technical fall wins - 17-2 and 15-0 respectively.

Higgins had one of the most exciting matches of the night because he was losing until the final seconds of the match. Higgins was down a few points with about thirty seconds left when he got word from Coach Bedard and Coach Lee to allow the escape so he could get another takedown. The plan worked and Higgins walked away with the 11-10 win and picking up an important three points for the Eagles.

The Eagles will be back in action this week at the Newberry Open in South Carolina on Sunday. Next, they will have their annual dual match with rival Life University next week. The AAC Championships will b after this the week of February 21st.
