Evans Finishes in Third at Georgia Open
Franklin Springs, GA - Reinhardt Wrestling got back on the mat quickly after their dual win Friday night versus Truett McConnell. The Eagles traveled to Emmanuel College to compete in the Georgia Open on Sunday. This tournament typically involves many of Coach Bedard's wrestlers getting time on the mat other than the main starting lineup. It is a very competitive tournament that includes all levels of NAIA and NCAA schools competing.
Aushaud Evans, who competed in the NAIA Nationals in 2023-24, had the most success, placing third in his weight class. He had a record of 4-1 during the tournament and made it to the semifinals before losing his first match. He was able to win another match in the consolation rounds to take the third spot at 157 weight class.
The middle weight classes are very solid for Coach Bedard's group with several strong wrestlers at 141, 149, 157, and 165. The tough competition that the wrestlers face daily can only make them better as they move along in the season and should benefit those who qualify for the NAIA Nationals.
Below are the competitors' finishes for the Georgia Open participants. Next up for the Eagles is an AAC battle at the Southeastern University Duals in Florida. The event will be live streamed through Southeastern for those who cannot attend. The live stream link is on the Reinhardt Wrestling schedule.
