Eagles Split with UNC Pembroke & Life University
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Wrestling wrapped up the final home event for all of Reinhardt Athletics on Wednesday evening as they hosted NCAA DII UNC Pembroke and rival Life University. The Eagles 1-1 on the evening with a win over #17 UNC Pembroke, 22-19, and a loss to #2 Life, 31-7.
It was a competitive and intense night of wrestling at the Brown Athletic Center where the Eagles had several wrestlers compete against the visiting teams. Reinhardt started the duals competing first against UNC Pembroke and ended the night against the talented Life University Eagles.
Angel Banda was the top performer of the night winning both of his matches. His first match was a 13-3 major decision over UNC Pembroke and a 15-2 major decision over Life University. Other Eagles picking up wins against UNC Pembroke were Domenico DiGena, Matt Jenkins, Wyatt Higgins, Jonathon Paramore, and Curt Thomas.
Against Life, the Eagles only got the wins from Banda and heavyweight Gavin Harper. Five of the matches in the RU vs Life dual were decided by one point with Life coming out on top of four of those. 141 DiGena, 149 Dawson Bates, 149 Devin Griffin, and 197 Curtis Thomas all lost their matches by just one point.
Full listing of both duals are below. The Eagles will have a couple of days to recoup as they prepare for their final event of 2023. The will be at the Southeastern duals on Saturday held in Gatlinburg, TN.
