Eagles Start 2023-24 Campaign on Winning Note
Cleveland, GA - Reinhardt Wrestling started off its 2023-24 season on a winning note Wednesday evening on the campus of Truett-McConnell. The Eagles came away with the 43-8 dominant win! Only six wrestlers got to actually wrestle as four weight classes from Truett McConnell were empty and forfeited.
Those receiving forfeit wins were Angel Banda (125), Easton Bishop (133), Curtis Thomas (197), and Gavin Harper (HW).
Wrestling for the Eagles were Tyler Barb (141), Dawson Bates (149), Devin Griffen (157), Matt Jenkins (165), Wyatt Higgins (174), and Jonathan Paramore (184). Bates, Griffin Jenkins, and Higgins all picked up wins for the Eagles.
Higgins won his match in the first period with a pin at the 1:16 mark. All-American Matt Jenkins won his match in the first period as well with a Tech Fall. Bates and Griffin both went the full distance in their matches, but they won handily over their opponents.
This was a good warm-up for those who were able to wrestle because the team will be traveling to UNC Pembroke in North Carolina this Sunday for the Pembroke Open. This is a good test for all the wrestlers involved as some of the top wrestlers around the southeast and east coast will be in attendance.
