Lebanon, Tn. - In a challenging regular-season volleyball face-off, the Reinhardt University Eagles endured a tough defeat against the Cumberland University Phoenix on Tuesday night, at the Dallas Floyd Arena in Lebanon, Tenn. The Eagles, who have shown formidable play this season, fell 1-3 in a match that saw intense competition and outstanding individual performances.
The match kicked off with a nail-biting first set where the Eagles narrowly lost 28-30 to the Phoenix. Reinhardt bounced back in the second set, claiming it 25-18, showcasing their resilience and tactical prowess. However, the subsequent sets saw the Eagles struggling to maintain their momentum, losing the third and fourth sets both with a score of 21-25. This loss moved their impressive season record to 19-5.
Top performers for the Eagles included Gabriel Gutierrez, who dominated with 23 kills and also contributed 9 digs and 1 ace, demonstrating his all-around play. Andrea Forcina also made significant contributions with 15 kills and 2 aces. The defensive effort was led by Jakub Aniolczyk, who made 3 blocks, further bolstering the Eagles' front line.
