The Eagles Fall Short At Emmanuel College
FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – In a challenging regular-season clash on Tuesday night, the Reinhardt University Eagles faced a tough defeat, losing 1-3 against the Emmanuel Lions in the Shaw Athletic Center. Despite a hard-fought battle and a victory in the second set, the Eagles couldn't capitalize on their momentum, ultimately falling to the DII opponent Emmanuel.
The first set started with competitive energy, resulting in a 21-25 loss for Reinhardt. The Eagles, however, came back strong in the second set, claiming it with a 25-19 scoreline. Hopes were high after the successful rally, yet in the subsequent sets, Emmanuel proved too strong, taking both the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-14.
Top performers for the Eagles were Jakub Aniolczyk with 10 kills, Andrea Forcina with 8, and Gabriel Gutierrez who managed 6. Christian De Leon and Aniolczyk impressed on the defensive end, each with 5 blocks, while Alex Sanchez led in digs with 15, showcasing his defensive capabilities. The only aces recorded for Reinhardt came from Ismael Gamero Guisado and Christian De Leon, each contributing one. Ethan Keung played a pivotal role with 29 assists, orchestrating the attack effectively even in the face of adversity.
The Eagles currently hold an impressive record of 14-3 overall and are undefeated in the AAC at 7-0. They will look to bounce back in their next encounter when they host Carolina University at home on Friday, March 21st, at 6 pm.
