Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt men's volleyball team added 3 more W's to the win column over the weekend to advance their season record to an outstanding 17-1.
Their weekend started off on Friday with a tri-match versus St. Andrews and Edward Waters. The Eagles ultimately swept St. Andrews 3-0 with the final scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-21. RU's Rodolfo Biegelmeyer and Gabriel Gutierrez each record 14 kills a piece to help the Eagles sweep. Bruno Dewes recorded 24 assists. Defensivley, Alex Sanchez had 12 digs, while Dalton Fellows had 6 blocks.
Then the Eagles matched up against Edward Waters, where RU took the game 3-2 in a close match (25-17, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 21-19). The Eagles took the first 2 sets to try and close the game out early but Edward Waters battled back and won the next 2 to force the game into 5-sets. RU and EWU did not want to let this game go as the final score of the 5th made it way all the way to the score of 21-19. Gabriel Gutierrez was a weapon with 23 total kills, while Rodolfo Biegelmeyer added 17. Bruno Dewes ran the winning offense, totaling 37 total assists. Alex Sanchez had 12 digs and Christian De Leon led in blocks with 5.
After 2-0 day, the Eagles then made their way to Bluefield and the triumph continued as the Eagles earned another 3-0 sweep of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-13. Rodolfo Biegelmeyer hit a .556 and earned 11 total kills, while Gabriel Gutierrez hit a .389 and added 9. Bruno Dewes once again, ran an efficient offense and earned 19 assists. Alex Sanchez took charge of the defense with 8 total digs, while Dalton Fellows had 7 total blocks.
Up next for the Eagles, will be home AAC match-up versus Webber Internationl this upcoming Friday, March 22nd, at 6pm.
