AAC Announces All-Conference Teams, Sanchez Defender of the Year

AAC Men's Volleyball Awards Announced
Waleska, GA - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2023 Men's Volleyball All-AAC Team and Awards on Thursday.
Jeremy Torres of Warner is the Player of the Year. Alex Sanchez of Reinhardt is the Defender of the Year, Matheus Ferreira-Collares of Warner is the Setter of the Year, and Carson Barnes of Webber is the Freshman of the Year. Pedro Davila of Warner is the Coach of the Year, while Audrye Alejandro-Rivera of Warner is the Assistant Coach of the Year.
The awards were voted on and selected by the men's volleyball coaches of the AAC.
Torres led the AAC in kills per set (4.93) and hitting percentage (.355) while finishing second in total kills (271).
Sanchez paced the conference in digs per set (4.08) and total digs (359).
Ferreira-Collares averaged 11.25 assists per set to lead the AAC.
Barnes posted 2.93 kills and 1.26 digs per set and had 14 total blocks.
Davila and Alejandro-Rivera led Warner to a 10-0 conference record en route to winning the regular-season championship.
Twelve players earned a spot on the All-AAC First Team with 10 making the second team. Several players made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, while six were named to the Champions of Character Team.
For the Eagles, Rodolfo Biegelmeyer, Victor Pacheco, and Alex Sanchez were named 1st Team All-Conference. Bruno Dewes, Chase Cross, and John Hynes were named to the 2nd Team All-Conference.
Nico Castro was awarded the AAC/NAIA Champions of Character Team for Reinhardt Volleyball.
Eagles Volleyball had five members named to the AAC All-Academic Team. Chase Cross, John Hynes, Ricardo Mujica, Rayner Sarmiento, and Bruno Dewes were among those named AAC All-Academic for 2023.
